Confessions of a Dessert Lover: Why I Always Check the Menu Backwards

Let’s get one thing straight—I have a sweet tooth the size of Texas. If there’s dessert on the menu, you can bet I’m ordering it, no matter how full I am from the main course. In fact, I’m one of those people who checks the dessert menu first, just to make sure I don’t accidentally fill up on something less important, like vegetables.

There’s something magical about dessert. It’s the grand finale of a meal, the sweet reward after all your savory efforts. Whether it’s a gooey chocolate lava cake, a perfectly flaky apple pie, or a towering sundae dripping with caramel sauce, dessert is the thing that makes life just a little bit sweeter.

I’ll admit, my obsession with dessert has led to some interesting dining habits. For starters, I’ve been known to order a smaller main course, just so I have plenty of room for dessert. Why waste stomach space on a boring salad when you could be saving it for a triple-layer cheesecake?

And don’t even get me started on those restaurants that offer dessert samplers. It’s like they’re speaking directly to my soul. Why settle for just one dessert when you can have a little bit of everything? It’s the ultimate indulgence, and I’m here for it.

But dessert isn’t just about the sugar rush—it’s about the experience. It’s about that moment when you take your first bite and your eyes roll back in bliss. It’s about sharing a slice of cake with friends, or indulging in a solo treat because, well, you deserve it. It’s the joy of finding that perfect balance of flavors and textures that makes your taste buds do a happy dance.

So, yeah, I’m a dessert lover, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. I’ll keep checking the menu backwards, because life is too short to skip dessert. And if you ever need a dining buddy to help you polish off that molten chocolate cake, you know who to call.
